Signs and causes for goiter or nodule is an enlargement in lower front part of the neck. But this is not painful as well as there is nothing to worry about it. But when goiter or nodules becomes large it make pressure on normal structures of neck. It also affects swallowing tube, trachea and blood vessels that can bring blood to and from the head.

Cause for the most of the thyroid nodules and goiter is not known. In certain cases , a lack of iodine in the diet can cause the thyroid gland to develop nodules and make enlargement in goiter. In exceptional cases development of nodules is also due to certain genes.
